Meet Mr Bioinformatics
"Few people know that the vice-chancellor (VC) of Pune University coined the term 'Bioinformatics'. This student of the Indian Institute of Sciences (IIS), Bangalore, later went on to do extensive research in that field, pioneering many developments thereafter.
Kolaskar beams with pride when he discusses the subject. "My team came up with the idea of bioinformatics as a branch of science which develops algorithms to extract knowledge from data."
