Biomed Rounds: Small companies step up to the plate in large
trials
"A half-dozen years ago it appeared that bioinformatics companies would take care of the data explosion. You know, big computers crunching large numbers in the hope that quick -- or quicker -- answers would be returned following an outsourcing of expensive software solutions.
But come to find out bioinformatics has not emerged as a dynamic space. The reason is that a fledging flock of geeks can never know enough about a client's science to make their software services worthwhile."
