Quarter of a million used for 'cyberinfrastructure'
"Who do you call if there’s a pathogenic outbreak in the Blacksburg area? You don’t call Ghostbusters, but in the near future you might be able to call the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute.
The Virginia Bioinformatics Institute received a $250,000 grant to create a course that will integrate the applications of bioinformatics and cyberinfrastructure. The funding was provided by the National Science Foundation in hopes to create an interest for students to pursue a career in informatics-related projects."

In fields ranging from structural biology to genomics to biomedical imaging, ready access to data and analytical tools are fundamentally changing the way investigators in the life sciences conduct research and approach problems. No biological discipline will be unaffected by these technological breakthroughs.”
